How did you get into architecture?
I got into the field of architecture and design due to a series of coincidences. I joined UDCT (ICT, Mumbai) to become a chemical tech graduate, still unsure of securing admission in J.J. College. I also qualified for the admission at the catering college in Mumbai, and at the same time was cleared for admission into the NDA to train as a cadet for the Air Force. However, the one week that I spent in the J.J. College of Architecture was enough for me to realise that this was my calling, and I was destined to be an architect.
What kind of projects are your strength?
I specialise in various verticals of design from architecture to hospitality, corporate office, retail, residential, institutional and health care interiors. I believe in maintaining a diverse portfolio. Our firm brings into the industry the latest in trends and technology in each vertical that gives an added edge to our diverse portfolio. Our main motto and goal is to create unique and distinctive designs for every project.
Which is your favourite project?
The luxury row house project located in the outskirts of Jodhpur called Umaid Heritage is my favourite. The design is a perfect balance of a refined and classy interiors that reflects the client’s lifestyle; added with sophisticated richness in colour, texture, innovative design and luxury, which provides a status way beyond aesthetics. The client was extremely design conscious and wanted an imposing and bold design statement for his home. The entire house had to be exotic and welcoming with an ambience that had a modern accent to cater to the youthful taste.
Where do you derive your inspiration from?
I always look up to the best Indian and international firms as a source of inspiration and immediate future milestone. Nature at its indigenous unique creativity is what inspires me a lot. I also strongly believe that in nature, we see a flawless balance of design, eco-system and the aesthetical beauty in its purest form. In this constantly changing world, the criteria of inspiration itself keeps evolving with passage of time. Technically, I draw inspiration from legends like Zaha Hadid and Hafeez Contractor.
Your biggest achievement so far?
The very fact that we could manage to accomplish quality projects in almost all the verticals of designs is what I feel is one of the biggest achievement.
