Set on a five-acre estate in Lonavala, this 20,000 sq. ft. residence by DesignHex is a study in integrating architecture with its natural surroundings. The cross-gabled roof and expansive windows align with the contours of the nearby hills, offering framed views of the Pawna dam while flooding the interiors with natural light.
Local materials like Indian gold marble and wood are used throughout, creating a tactile connection to the region. The layout emphasizes seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, anchored by features like a central pond for rainwater harvesting, a heated indoor pool with a cascading waterfall, and a Shiv mandir.
The residence includes five family rooms and seven guest rooms, with spaces designed for relaxation and recreation, such as a gym, steam rooms, and a massage room. Azen garden, walking trails, and a cricket turf extend the living experience into the landscape.
The “Modern Indian” theme drives the design, blending intricate carvings and traditional motifs with bold color accents and rich textiles like silk and velvet. Open-plan layouts and curated materials enhance functionality while maintaining a connection to Indian craftsmanship.
This project exemplifies a thoughtful approach to blending culture, luxury, and functionality within a contemporary framework.
