Mumbai-based design store and studio Baaya Design launched ‘Life & Art of The Warlis’ on 23rd April, 2016 in Mumbai. The interactive workshop provides an experience that is authentic, experiential and educational, with a purpose of promoting Indian art forms. Shibani Jain, CEO, Baaya Design believes that art has the power to change human consciousness. She says that the workshop will challenge people to think broadly about how we are all connected to our roots.
This is a first-of-its-kind series of workshops and cultural tours that will be conducted throughout the year. With an aim to connect with the beautiful Warli art & their unique culture, this innovative workshop will bring people closer to Indian art.
At the event the store documented an in-depth research on Warli culture and presented interesting facts about the history of Warli lifestyle. Renowned Warli artist Raja Ram Hengadi personally addressed the participants during the workshop and introduced them to Warli paintings.
Shibani Jain says that this is just beginning and they plan to introduce other India art & crafts such as Copper Enamel, Gond, Kalamkari and many more. Their main objective is to make art lovers truly aware of Indian art forms and also help them understand the history to be able to connect to its roots better.
The Warli workshop received a great response from art lovers, thus encouraging the brand to host many more workshops in coming months.
