At first glance, this 3BHK Bengaluru apartment appears sleek and contemporary. But look closer, and you’ll spot subtle nods to the past woven into its design. Envisioned by House of NiHU for a well-traveled IT professional and his visiting parents, the 1750 sqft space balances minimalism with warmth and familiarity.

The directive was clear – a modern home infused with hints of old-school charm, artfully realized by partners Monika Jain and Chukki Jangid. Their approach? A blend of restraint and expression.

A neutral base keeps things calm, letting pops of color shine. Clean lines meet soft curves to strike a rhythmic balance. Marmarino-textured walls and gentle arches wrap the home in elegance. Semi-open partitions made from locally sourced Channapatna wooden beads subtly define spaces without closing them off. Thoughtful details—classic wainscoting, handpicked curios—add nuanced layers without ever feeling overdone. This is Etherea—a home where light, texture, and tranquility converge effortlessly.

Step inside, and form meets function in perfect sync. A sleek yet spacious shoe rack in the foyer pays homage to the client’s passion as a shoe connoisseur, neatly housing his prized collection. Beyond, the open-layout communal space flows effortlessly, shifting moods with ease.

A bespoke sectional sofa commands the living space, its sculpted profile complemented by a coffee table that boasts varied travertine finishes. Artistic elements punctuate the subdued palette: an idyllic wall art by local artist Chetna Lunkad and a bold rug from Carpet Kingdom add just the right contrast.

In the dining area, a circular arrangement ensures space efficiency. Teakwood, cane, and boucle fabric come together to create an inviting atmosphere—materials chosen for their rich texture and comfort. Nearby, a snug nook is formed by extending the kitchen wall. Its purpose? A dedicated space to showcase the homeowner’s travel photography, turning personal memories into a curated visual story.

The kitchen makes a statement with pops of dusty blue, to fulfill the client’s request for a vibrant aesthetic in this area. Open and airy, it features Fenix laminate for its durability and refined matte finish. Concealed profile handles preserve a smooth look, while a breakfast counter facilitates quick bites and privacy.

The bedrooms extend the interplay of contrasting finishes, where serenity meets flair. In the master suite, an emerald green bed instantly draws the eye, resting on a hardwood platform that cleverly integrates storage with foldable handles from Mantara. Underfoot, a modest segment of patterned tiles breaks the monotony with an unexpected twist.

Conversely, the parent’s bedroom dons a more peaceful avatar. With mint green color blocking, sandwiched cane wardrobe shutters, and statement wall sconces – all framed by gentle contours – the expanse stays true to the home’s restful ethos.

Designed for versatility, the third bedroom makes the most of its compact footprint. A sleek study corner tucks in beside sizable wardrobes, while a cozy window-side couch encourages moments of pause—be it with a book or a steaming cup of coffee.

Etherea illustrates equal parts simplicity and character, where every space feels both still and full of life. With adept layering and precise execution, House of NiHU delivers a dwelling that celebrates modern living with sophistication.
