The French crystal house known for lighting up royal palaces and Parisian soirées now brings its signature sparkle to the heart of New Delhi on 19th April, 2025.
Baccarat is officially opening its doors at The Chanakya, one of Delhi’s most refined luxury destinations. With over 260 years of legacy, the French maison blends heritage craftsmanship with a distinctly modern lens—something that fits right in with India’s evolving design narrative.
But this isn’t the brand’s first brush with the country. Baccarat first arrived in Bombay in 1886 and quickly caught the eye of Indian royalty. The Maharajas of Kapurthala, Indore, and Baroda commissioned everything from crystal chandeliers to full dining sets, many of which still sit proudly in palace halls.
At The Chanakya, Baccarat is building on that legacy with an immersive boutique experience that brings the brand’s world of chandeliers, barware, and iconic glassware—including the legendary Harcourt glass—to a new generation of Indian collectors.
A highlight of the opening: the 84-light Zénith chandelier, which takes centerstage in the atrium of the mall. Crafted in clear and signature red crystal, the installation is a nod to both craftsmanship and spectacle—a rare fusion that Baccarat does so well.
Inside the store, octagonal niches, mirrored panels, and a bold red palette—achieved through a fusion of crystal and 24-carat gold—frame the collections. The space is moody, luminous, and unmistakably French, with a touch of drama that feels right at home in the capital.
“Expanding our presence in India allows us to connect more closely with our clientele here,” says Laurence Nicolas, CEO of Baccarat. “The flagship is an invitation to experience Baccarat’s art de vivre, up close.”
The opening marks a milestone in Baccarat’s India journey, with a second boutique already in the pipeline. For now, Delhi gets the first glimpse of what a modern-day crystal fantasy looks like.
