A Home That Dares to Be Different: Inside Jasna & Angad Bedi’s Bangalore Penthouse

A bold blend of jewel tones, sculptural lighting, and unexpected art makes this 7,000 sq. ft. home a masterclass in luxury with personality.

What happens when a legacy construction entrepreneur and a design-obsessed couple decide to create a home that doesn’t play by the rules? You get a penthouse that’s equal parts elegance, eccentricity, and intentionality.

Angad Singh Bedi, CMD of the 70-year-old BCD Group, and Jasna Ahuja Bedi have carved out a spectacular 7,000 sq. ft. home in Leela Residences, Bangalore—a space that’s layered, lavish, and unapologetically personal. Designed by Gopal Zaveri from Mumbai, the residence is anything but formulaic.

The design language is clean yet bold. While the upholstery leans neutral, jewel tones—rich emeralds, deep sapphires, moody purples—punctuate the space with energy. “We love the grounding effect of neutrals, but we didn’t want the space to feel flat,” says Jasna. “The jewel tones were our way of adding depth and drama.”

And then, there’s the lighting. Every chandelier in the home has been sourced from Italy, each one a sculptural statement in its own right. “Lighting was non-negotiable for us,” adds Angad. “We brought in a lighting expert to get the exact tone of yellow that worked with our palette.” Some chandeliers are even motion-sensored—elegant yet sustainable.

But perhaps the most intriguing part of the home is how it’s split functionally. Along with the usual suspects—three bedrooms, a prayer room, and a spacious living area—the penthouse also houses an office, a conference room, and a boardroom. Importantly, the workspaces have a separate entrance, keeping the home’s privacy intact.

Glass plays a big role in the material palette—antique mirrors, fluted glass, and reflective panels are layered with marble, wood, and tactile fabrics. The result? A rich mix of textures that changes character across the day.

Still, the home’s real personality comes through in its playful elements. A one-of-a-kind life-size piece from Scarlet Splendour’s Ashish Bajoria, affectionately named Chicco, sits as a statement artwork—it’s the only one in an Indian home. There’s also a 7-ft giraffe clutching a chandelier on the balcony, and a 4-ft Mickey Mouse sculpture that brings just the right amount of irreverence.

“You walk into the house and you know it doesn’t belong to anyone else,” Jasna says. “It’s not trying to copy anything. It’s us.”

Even quieter corners have been carefully considered. A bay window reading nook drenched in daylight has become Jasna’s favorite spot—ideal for unwinding, yet with a perfect view of the household action.

Every piece in the house—whether sourced from Europe or scouted across India—has been chosen with intent. It’s maximalism, but done with thought. Every chandelier, fabric, object, and surface plays its part in a story that’s bold, warm, and completely bespoke.

In a world where interiors often play safe, this penthouse reminds us that homes can have a sense of humour, a point of view, and a whole lot of heart.
