What attracted you to 3 D art?
When I first saw street painting, I immediately fell in love with the art. The temporal nature of drawing with pastel on pavements is what appealed to me.
What’s so special about the medium?
It’s all about the magic of the work. Understanding the mechanics behind the work is always interesting for the public. However, it’s the artist’s imagination on display, which is the real beauty of the medium.
Working with the medium?
The medium is surprisingly forgiving. Mistakes are easily remedied with a damp sponge or eraser. It’s actually a lot more fun drawing with pastel on pavements, and thats the biggest advantage.
The challenges?
The challenges are around the physicality of the practice. It’s not easy sitting or crouching on the pavement for 8 to 12 hours a day, 2 to 3 days in a row. Also, rain and strong winds are no friends of the street painter.
Your future plans?
I would love to curate more 3 D festivals and events. Another plan involves organising a global workshop program to bring the practice closer to young adults and enthusiasts in developing nations worldwide.
