Meghna and Tejas Agrawal are a couple who think differently. When it comes to their house, their ideas for living complement the space that is made beautiful through a love for all things natural. Meghna says, “We wanted our home to be simple and traditional, yet reflect the feeling of modernism. On entering, you get a soothing effect from teakwood while your eyes feast on the beautiful Dhrangadhra stone jaali. The customised brass light fixtures are sure to grab your attention too. As a couple, we wanted a space with a different feel and the subtle balance being maintained.”
Natural materials like wood, brass and stone have been used extensively throughout the home, giving a very calming effect to the interior spaces. The living area has a beige colour scheme in contrast to the bright and brassy dining area. Contemporary furniture and basic lighting accentuate the look in this space. The highlight in the kitchen are handmade tiles, specially customised in Jaipur, as part of the wall. Wooden panels, fixed at eye level and below the kitchen platform, give an airy appeal to the set-up. The flooring is done in royal beige Italian marble across all spaces.
The children’s room is wellbalanced with an American ash wood platform bed and customised multi-colour carpet to complement the neutral walls and colourful accessories. The wall art and nature-inspired curtains gel beautifully with the theme of the room. The master bedroom is done in a monochromatic colour scheme. Meghna says, “This is something you need to experience as it is definitely not just black and white. The bed is customised in high gloss, grey, polyurethane coating that’s complemented by a shimmering silver coat on the walls.” The metal artwork above the bed adds a punch to the otherwise simple space.
