A terrace design by Nilanjan Bhowal of Design Consortium that gives new direction to enjoying the outsides, while being in the comfort of your own incredibly designed space.
True to the design sensibilities of its architect, Nilanjan Bhowal of Design Consortium and inspired by his travels to some of the most beautiful Mediterranean islands, this terrace landscape with a pool might seem like a mirage in a city like Delhi. It reflects his ideology of “Organitecture” which he defines as a synthesis of the traditional learnings with technologically advanced values. The connection with the Earth and the sky comes to play in a space like this. Cool tones of white and blue are used, which are inspired by the sky itself. White-blue reflective tiled mosaic flooring is done to keep the building cooler on hot summer days by reducing the heat gain from the roof. Rain Water Harvesting System is used in this project, which provides water for landscaping and other activities
A small terrace garden with warm wooden outdoor furniture brings in the right amount of earthy tones to this terrace. A raised seating is perfect to enjoy the cool breeze and dazzling city lights at night. The evaporative cooling in this entire space manages the micro-climate of the building.
Even though it is a terrace on a built-up residence but to the human eye, it feels as if one is living in a space which is a part of nature. The morning and evening sun brings in a contrast to the landscape not just on the terrace but also inside, from the skylight. While sitting in the dining, one can feel the loose stones under their feet and soft grass on the sitting space. An experience beautifully curated by the architect.
