Needless to say, there is overheating of the plants and pots in the summers. To protect them, it is essential to water them well, and regularly. The best time to water the plants would be in the morning, since it gives enough time for the water to reach and get well absorbed into the roots without much of it getting lost due to evaporation. Also, the leaves are let dry by the sun later in the day which reduces the chances of fungus problems which occur due to damp leaves.

Freshly planted seeds and saplings are likely to dry out during the hot summer month. In this case, it is ideal to use shade cloth which protects them from harsh rays of the sun. Cloth from old curtains can be used to create a shade, and even a leafy branch would help protect the new sapling.
