People often perceive celeb homes to be ostentatious and elaborate. This doesn’t stand true always. Bollywood actress Anushka Ranjan’s penthouse, located at Versova, Mumbai is elegantly perched on the 17th floor. Spread over an area of 8,000 sqft with a 2,000 sqft terrace, the 6BHK house is characterised by subtle interiors in earthy tones. Anushka lives here with her director father Shashi Ranjan, her mother Anu Ranjan and her sister.
Speaking about the interiors, the bubbly actress says, “My mother decorated the home completely. We wanted it to have a cosy feeling. My parents are art lovers, hence you will see artworks everywhere. One of my favourites is the Ganesha painting.” On entering the living area you are greeted by a vibrant painting of Mother Teresa that lends a positive aura to the home. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out to a small seating terrace, perfect for a cup of evening tea. Mirrors create a illusion of space. The living area is flanked by the bar on one side and a dining area on the other.
A small terrace with a sit out connects to the actress’s bedroom and the guest bedroom. To this, she says, “I love my bedroom. My sister and I share the room, so it basically is our collective thought. We kept it simple with many photographs to lend a personalised touch.”
Apart from this, the regal entertainment room is a complete reflection of her father says the chirpy actress. One of the most loved spots in the home is without doubt the terrace, that has beautiful outdoor furniture, a bar, swings and greenery that soothes the eyes.
Adding to this Anushka says, “The terrace is my favourite spot. Not only me and my family, but my friends also love spending time here. During monsoons, it is beautiful, you have snails coming out, it is surreal.” Luckily, unlike the city that is yearning for greenery, the home is blessed with a lot of it. “My father personally tends to all the plants as he loves gardening. In fact, he grows organic vegetables as well,” says the sultry actress, trailing off.
