“An architect by profession, I have always believed in Einstein’s saying that creativity is intelligence having fun, so ‘Designing’ for me is like a fun filled puzzle that I keep attempting until it is solved to my liking. My decor style is contemporary with the use of colours, patterns and indoor greens. I believe in reusing and re-purposing in home decor and use sustainable material like terracotta and cane in my decor. Also I believe small budgets and small efforts can create smart corners in your home.”- Anjari Ganguly (@anjari_live_love_laugh_create)

“I am not scared to experiment as I believe that rather than going with the tried and tested, trying new things is the way to go. Sometimes it’s dramatic, sometimes subtle and sometimes it’s classy and reflective. Being a complete colourholic, I look at my home as a blank canvas and keep experimenting. I love to play a lot with light effects, accessories and take inspiration from all the colors and hues around. My personal style is Boho Eclectic along with patterns and textures. Being passionate about my work ethics, I strongly believe in rethinking, refurbishing and reusing old pieces of furniture and giving them new life.”- Anubha Khurana Dube (@anubhadube)

“My design philosophy has always been influenced deeply by colours, patterns and textures. India has a huge repertoire of arts and crafts, which are an intrinsic part of our home. My decor style is very personal and eclectic and is peppered with art created by me, my attempts at DIYS, precious family heirlooms and collectibles from our travels and sojourns. Things collected over the years, nature finds from our walks and vacations fill my home. Therefore it is a home which has an imprint of the passage of time, of emotions and feelings, of happy and quiet moments and a lot of love.”- Anuradha Kapoor (@anuraya_by_anuradhakapoor)

“In terms of my style of decor, warm and cosy tones dominate every nook and corner of our home, while I look to to ensure that our space is a true and current reflection of our personalities, travels, cultural experiences and interests. Since it’s our first home together, I focus on making heirloom furniture that has been passed on to us by family, blended in with locally sourced and custom-made pieces that are rooted in our love for sustainability and upcycling.”- Mohicka Gupta (@cosyquirk)

“I am inspired by nature, which goes without saying. The colours of the beautiful ocean water, all shades of blue and green, the sky which adds vibrant colours at times but looks soothing to eyes and the calmness of greenery. I have used all these elements in my living room in order to make my rented house feel like ‘Home.’ While using colours, a lot depends on what colour walls are in the house. We prefer to put light shades of decor to give a contrast look in a space with statement walls and if we have plain white walls, we tend to add colours. I feel white is more classy and it is the perfect background that we can use any other colours with – which suits your mood, your preference and lastly what looks elegant. Conceptually, our living room is a simple and usable space, yet it is a beautiful place of my lovely home, where we undeniably enjoy spending our time.” (Kruti Badiani, @myhomevibes)

Styling my living room for me is a reflection of my commitment towards sustainable decor and ethical sourcing. I’m a person driven by DIY ethics and thus the living room is an array of upcycled items blended with travel collectibles in an overall traditional tone. The upcycled daybed (traditional khaat) forms the major spot in the living room space. Teal blue is the highlighted colour here, with beige and brown syncing subtely in the backdrop. My aim was to transform this space in a balanced, budget friendly yet creative way- narrating the story of my DIY skills and upcycling adventures. I fondly call my home my upcycled heaven!”- Navneet Sandhu Singh (@designdecortravel)
- “My home is a little canvas and I love styling outdoor elements in every little corner. A true forager, plants, flowers, stones and natural elements largely inspire my work. I like to see beauty in the ordinary and I am always on the hunt for daily musings from the rustic colours of a leaf, the fallen flowers on the streets, to the texture of a distressed wall of a run down building. Blends of textures and patterns add a lot of character to my space. My décor is mostly inspired by bohemian and eclectic themes, which is quiet evident in my styling too.”- Raina (@theshalomhome)

“My style inspiration has always been an amalgamation of classic contemporary and a hint of traditional eclecticism. I am always immensely inspired by havelis and old Rajasthani palaces and so I added a little slice of that by pasting a ‘jharokha’ wall decal in my living room. Lighting is another aspect of styling that I play with a lot when creating a look. Be it through the use of tea lights, lamps/lanterns or candle stands, I try to incorporate them in every way. I usually embrace a lot of warm neutral tones when it comes to the layering of my cushions, rugs and runners. Plants and artificial flowers are a common staple in my home as they help bring colour, interest and give a fresh vibe to any space. Lastly, I love to source a lot of my decor items from local artisans and exhibitions as I think that feels more authentic to my style and makes my house seem more inviting.”- Rashmi Chandra (@rashmi1169)

“My decor style is eclectic and I love to play with colors. After living abroad for more than 14 years, I do miss India and Indian vibes. Also, I did not want to keep the same style for the whole house, so I decided to dedicate atleast one room to Indian style decor. Hence, my living room depicts ethnic Indian style.” Shilpi Chaturvedi (@cshilpkari)

“I had the best holiday of my life travelling to Goa in March 2018. Just before I left I had received the news that I had been chosen to rent my dream house with my three children and three cats. I love colors and I was so happy to shop in Goa for my new home. I came home with 30 kilos extra luggage – lamps, carpets, shelves, fabrics etc. I fell in love with India and wanted to create a little India in my home. Finland is very cold and grey in the autumn and winter, so I painted the walls of my home yellow and turquoise and went for flowery wallpapers. All the décor items on display with over 100 plants are warm memories from my travels around the world. My home is a constant inspiration and I love changing the room decors. I only have one rule: The décor must create joy!”- Tara Lange (@j.o.y.h.o.m.e)
