Located at a comfortable altitude of 5,400 feet, which keeps the temperatures mild and cool throughout the year, Brooka Arthaus is spread across 3 acres in the midst of Oakwood forests. Situated in
Ramgarh, Nainital, each of the eleven villas are planned with panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges.
The villas exhibit an open plan scheme and all the rooms open out to large decks and terraces facing the expanse of the green valley. Since the site is bound by designated forest land on all sides, the idea was to capitalise on that and create 180 degree views for each villa. Th e plan of each villa is customised to suit the individual needs of future occupants. Be it short vacations or long duration stays; every aspect has been kept in mind while detailing the spaces. To maintain the local Kumaoni flavour, all materials for the villas have been sourced locally. Careful attention has been paid to detailing the lighting, walls, fl ooring, accessories, etc. so that these villas are aesthetically pleasing, while being easy to maintain at the same time.
The villas have a rustic charm while the rendering of materials are quite contemporary. Th e outdoors and landscaping is done very sensitively, separated by lily pools and little water canals. A
rain water harvesting system has been designed to accentuate the landscape that has white pebbles. All the stone masonry is done in dressed stone, without any mortar showing. Th e retaining walls would
be soon covered with growing creepers, making the villas merge with the hills in the backdrop. All the roads are cobbled, with lowstreet lighting and the letter boxes are shaped like birds. Needless to
say, each villa is named aft er the local birds of the region.
