A graduate in psychology, Jyoti Kumari is a self-trained Madhubani painter. Through her passion for art, she has managed to captivate the audience. Jyoti started painting in 2008 and has continued her immaculately detailed work since then. “I enjoy Madhubani art a lot and I feel really happy when I get appreciated for my work,” says the artist.
From silk sarees, wall hangings to home decor items, Jyoti paints Madhubani artwork on everything. She believes that the beauty of art should reach every home in India, hence she states, “I do not price my work very high as I want this art form to reach everybody.”
Some of the famous themes are, Kober, Rasleela of Radha Krishna, the forest theme, the marriage of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. “Today, a lot of artificial colours are available in the market, I still try and use as many natural colours as possible so that the art does not loose its authenticity,” concludes the artist.
