Bengaluru house meets Californian finesse
The proud owners of this Bengaluru based home wanted thier house to have clean lines and neutrals to give the same calm vibe that their San Francisco based home had. Designed by Sunita Yogesh of Sunita Yogesh Studio and photographed by Nayan Soni, the house has a mixed decor and feel.
The space is divided into zones – entryway, dining area and the living area. Most of the furniture in the house is custom-made. With serenity being the theme, Sunita picked a neutral colour palette with pops of colour here and there.
The living room has a large rug, which brings the whole place together as one unit. The sofas were paired with an accent chair carrying a criss-cross woven seat which creates a good juxtaposition. The floor lamp and the table lamp bring together a soulful lighting experience. Brass sputnik light fixtures to anchor the space.
The dining table has a natural wood stain and has been paired with mid-century modern chairs with woven seat to add some texture. The kitchen has white shaker style cabinets with black hardware, which beautifully pops against the white. Since, it is a kitchen-cum-utility space, the designer dedicated a zone for laundry with storage on one side of the room.
The master bedroom is bigger and is spacious. Sunita has set up an upholstered king size bed with tufted headboard in charcoal grey and has paired it with large wooden nightstands. Board and batten panels were installed to add some interest to the walls. A vignette with a large chest of drawers and a minimalistic round mirror completes the entire look of the carefully conceptualised house to perfection.
